Baking bread at North Devon B&B Guest House outside Barnstaple
While the Covid lockdown and the January cold and wet weather may dampen the spirits of some, Brenda at West Down B&B Guest House Barnstaple has been busy as usual in the kitchen this time baking bread.
Using organic wholemeal bread flour produced locally by Higher Biddacott Farm , Brenda set to work on the kitchen table first mixing, then kneading, fermenting, proofing and finally baking her bread.
As you can see from the images below, the final stage of the process was the quality testing stage that she and Roger undertook with a traditional poached eggs on toast dish taken from the West Down Guest House AA award winning menu. The fresh free range eggs came of course from their own chicken run in the vegetable garden.
Unfortunately there was little left from the baking bread activity after the quality testing stage that could be frozen for later use by guests. So please be sure to keep an eye on our special offers page when the Covid lockdown have been removed so that we can welcome you to West Down for the first time or as one of our many repeat guests and share a new batch of home baked bread.
Meanwhile keep warm and keep safe,
